2018-19 Co-op Parent Meeting August 7, at 5:30 p.m.

All students enrolled in the Co-op program for 2018-19 and a parent or guardian need to attend this meeting that will explain the program requirements, expectations, rules, and answer any questions.  The meeting will be held in Room 122A.

LACC Awards Night

It was great to celebrate all of the student accomplishments at our LACC Awards Night on May 3rd.  The following scholarship winners were announced:  Courtney Armour received the Ashley Platt Scholarship, Haley Wiechmann received the Casey Kohlmeier Scholarship, Andrew Brockett received the Iron Pig Motorcycle Club Scholarship, Keegan Iverson received the Red Cross Blood Drive Scholarship, and Alana Oelschlager received the National Technical Honor Society Scholarship.  We would also like to congratulate our Student of the Year winners, which are Austin Einhaus and Megan Ifft.

AWS Awards Grant to Welding Classes

On Friday 4/27/18 John Willard of the American Welding Society (AWS) 13th District Director, presented a plaque to Mrs. Jodi Lancaster, the Welding Technology instructor at the Livingston Area Career Center in Pontiac, IL for winning a grant from the AWS. The Welding Technology classes were awarded a grant of $22, 180.50. Part of this money was used to purchase two Lincoln Powerwave, 3 in 1 machines. They were also able to purchase two Square Wave GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) machines.  These machines will provide the capacity for working with both aluminum and stainless steel which has been an issue up to this point.

Students Compete in Skills USA

LACC had many students compete in Skills USA Friday, April 20th and did very well.  The Welding Team of Austin Einhaus, Michael Verdun, and Logan Widman placed 1st in there event.  There were three Law Enforcement  students that placed as follows: Mason Vilt – 1st place, Alec Bristow – 2nd place, Jeff Durham – 3rd place.   The CISCO Networking students also placed as the following: Tate Hetherington 1st place, Nathan Berens 2nd place, and David Longmire 3rd place.  An Early Childhood Education student, Justin Gierich received 1st place and a Medical Terminology student, Andrew Myzia received 2nd place.  The students that placed first will go to Nationals in June.
