In this class, students will have the opportunity to train to become nationally certified Medical Assistants and EKG Technicians. Medical Assisting is a fast-growing career in healthcare with the Bureau of Labor Statistic estimating that an additional 15% more Medical Assists will be needed in the next 10 years.

The first 12 weeks of the class, students will learn how to perform EKGs and cardiac monitoring, learn how to troubleshoot problems during/with an EKG and how to interpret basic rhythms. They will have the opportunity to take a certification test through the National Association for Health Professionals. They will learn the hands-on skills in a classroom lab to make them proficient in obtaining EKGs.

After completing the EKG portion, the class will learn the administrative and clinical skills needed to perform as a Medical Assistant in any type of clinic setting. Students will learn how to register and schedule patients, vital signs and how to assist with basic procedures done in a medical office through in class lab scenarios. At the completion of this portion of the class, the students will have the opportunity to take a certification through the National Association for Health Professionals.
